LE PONT
Micro-exposition du 05/09 au 08/10 | 1 rue des Étrangers
Nahirna22 x Garage Moderne
Le Pont is the exhibition of the residents of the Nahirna 22 art community from Kyiv. In 2025, Nahirna 22 and Le Garage Moderne began a tentative cooperation that has now resulted in a residency proposal for 2027, when 5 residents of Nahirna will come to Le Garage Moderne for a 2-month residency to create new work inspired by the community in Bordeaux.
Nahirna 22 is a community of artists originally located at 22 Nahirna St. in Kyiv, after which it derives its name, based around the building of the former Kyiv Institute of Automation. The community gathered organically in 2018, since the institute building had a large number of rooms that could be used as art studios available for rent. In the fall of 2022, NGO Nahirna was created to support the activities of the community. Its goal is to unite artists and representatives of the creative industries within a cooperative model of interaction aimed at the development of contemporary Ukrainian art and creating conditions for the realisation of the creative potential of its participants. The organization’s audience includes artists, students, representatives of the creative industries, and audiences interested in contemporary art. The space has gradually become a visible and important meeting point in Kyiv’s cultural life, attracting visitors of different ages and professional backgrounds, as well as international visitors.
The community organises exhibitions, educational and interdisciplinary projects that contribute to the development of relevant contemporary art and strengthen the presence of Ukrainian artists in the international cultural context.
With the support of the organisation, artists and artistic groups of the community have participated in international projects and exhibitions, including in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Los Angeles, Gdan?sk, and Warsaw.
In May 2026, the community was informed that due to a change in the management of the building, the premises of the Institute of Automation at Nahirna Str. should be vacated by the end of the month. Currently, the community has spread out around the city of Kyiv and exists as a collection of smaller hubs of artists linked by shared activity, while looking for a new way to function as a single entity. In this turbulent time of figuring out its new identity, the Nahirna has experienced an influx of support from many cultural organisations, like the Ukrainian House Foundation Warsaw, that is a partner in the cooperation with Le Garage Moderne, who have in the past organised charitable exhibitions to help the community raise money after being hit by a Russian missile and are now enabling the collaboration between the Nahirna and Le Garage. Other organisations cooperating with Nahirna22 include Port of Culture, Hotel Continental and Artspace in Exile in Berlin, Asociación ConUcrania in Madrid, M17 Art Centre and The Naked Room Gallery in Kyiv and the Goethe Institut Ukraine.
This project is supported by Le LABA, ERASMUS+, Culture Moves Europe & the Goethe Institute. Implemented in cooperation with Ukraine Amitié
